Comparison

Tabrio vs Bonsai

Both keep a freelance business organised, but they aim at different sizes of problem. Here is what each one actually covers, including the parts Tabrio leaves out.

Which should you choose?

Choose Bonsai if you want one subscription to cover proposals, e-signature, time tracking and, in the US, tax and accounting help, and you are comfortable paying more for that breadth. Choose Tabrio if the parts you actually use every week are clients, projects, tasks and invoices, and you want an AI contract scanner that reviews the agreements clients send you — a job Bonsai's contract templates do not do. Tabrio is the smaller, cheaper tool on purpose.

Pricing

Tabrio’s free Basic plan is $0.00 and capped: 3 clients, 1 project per client, and 3 finalized invoices over the workspace lifetime. Pro lifts those caps at $15.00 a month or $99.00 a year, which works out at $8.25 a month. One flat price, and one workspace per account.

Bonsai is billed per user and has no free plan, just a 7-day trial. Its cheapest tier, Basic, is $9 per user per month billed annually ($15 monthly), but Basic does not include invoicing at all — for invoices, proposals and contracts you need Essentials at $19 per user per month billed annually ($25 monthly).

Taxes and the final local amount are shown at checkout on both.

Tabrio vs Bonsai, common questions.

Is Tabrio a Bonsai alternative?

For the client, project and invoicing side, yes. Tabrio covers client tracking, project tracking, task management and invoicing, plus an AI contract scanner. It is not a like-for-like replacement if you rely on Bonsai's proposals, e-signature, time tracking or tax tools, because Tabrio does not have those.

Which is cheaper, Tabrio or Bonsai?

Tabrio, if you are comparing plans that can actually invoice. Bonsai's cheapest tier is $9 per user per month billed annually, but it has no invoicing; the cheapest Bonsai plan that invoices is $19 per user per month. Tabrio Pro is $99 a year, one flat price. The reason it is cheaper is that it does less: Tabrio is a single-user tool with no proposals, e-signature or time tracking, so if you need any of those, Bonsai's price is buying you something real.

Does Bonsai review contracts with AI?

Bonsai provides contract templates and e-signature, which help you produce your own agreement. Tabrio's contract scanner does the opposite job: you upload a contract a client has sent you and it returns the risks, unusual clauses and recommendations before you sign.

Can I move from Bonsai to Tabrio?

You can create a free Tabrio workspace and add your clients and live projects to it without cancelling anything, then run both for a month and see which one you actually open. There is no import tool, so a small client list moves fastest.
